e-Forms installation for Hilton brand hotels OnQ Users

Configure OnQ to use the new printer

It may be easier to use a printout to complete this part of the installation. When you have finished continue with the next step.

  1. Start OnQ Frontdesk as you normally would and from the menu bar select "Reports" / "List of reports..."

  2. From the menu in upper left corner of the list window, select "File" / "Printer Assignments". If you see an option for "Personal Printer Assignement", don't use that other than to check and be sure that all the printers in that option are set to Unassigned.

  3. In the dialog box, click on Folio Paper Printer: and pull down the Printer selection list from the bottom of the dialog and click on the printer with "LJ4n" in the name (this may be "EFPlus.com HPLJ4n or Hilton HP LJ4n) then close the dialog. If you will make use of the Statement Electronic Forms at this work station, you should also set the White Paper Printer to the LJ4n driver.
Note: If you don't see an LJ4n printer in the list, go back to step 1 and "Install an updated e-Forms capable printer driver."

Now look at the third printer in the list (after the White Paper Printer and the Folio Paper Printer) .

If you use the registration Keypacket stock, you must also set the Registration printer to the LJ4n driver. ( if you have chosen not to use the registration keypacket stock and to print registration slips on plain white paper, set the Registration printer to Unassigned)

  4. Close the dialog by clicking on Ok.

  5. If you also have an option under the "File" menu for "Personal Printer Assignments" ensure they are ALL set to "unassigned".

At this point, it is probably working just fine, and if you like you can try to print something now to test. There are a couple of other settings in OnQ that can cause the eForms to print incorrectly, so if you wish to be sure, continue on here.

  6. Click on Start / Programs / OnQ... / Database Maintenance

  7. Select Hotel Defaults

  8. Select Reciept Printing

  9. Ensure the option for "Use keypacket format..." is set correctly for your hotel.

It should be working, try to print a reciept and a registration to check. If not, it's a good idea to check the font installation at this point:

  1. Click on Start / Settings / Printers then

  2. Right click on the LJ4n printer and select Properties from the pop up menu that appears.

  3. Select the right most tab which should be labled "Configure".
Note: If the right most tab is "Device Settings" you have installed the Microsoft Version of the HP Laser Jet 4 printer driver and this version does not support e-forms. Go back to step 1 and "Install an updated e-Forms capable printer driver."

  4. Verify that the "Font DIMM" check box is checked and push the "Configure" button.

  5. Verify that "EFPlus eForms" appears on the left side under "Installed DIMMs:"

  6. Click on "EFPlus eForms" and verify that all the types of forms you use appear on the right side under "Fonts on DIMM:" and that the word "(Enabled)" is listed after each form.

  7. Click on Cancel then on Cancel again and close the list of printer.

If you encounter printing problems at this point you can always re-configure OnQ at the workstations to use the standard printer driver.

If you are doing the initial installation of e-Forms, move to the next workstation and repeat these steps from Step 1: "Install an updated e-Forms capable printer driver."

If you are using the FULL SIZED Registration Key Packet, you may need to make some changes to the settings at the front panel of the printer. Go to our list of supported printers, select the type of printer you are using and look for the heading on setting up trays for Registration Key Packets.

If you are using the SMALL Registration Key Packet stock, please follow the directions for setting it up on it's own page.
