Printer Issue

When installing Electronic Forms Plus there may be an issue where the printer is not responding or is displaying a Code Level of 2.19F on the Configuration Page. This issue is due to an additional ROM simm that needs to be removed. The following is step-by-step instructions on how to remove the simm.

Restoring original code levels in a IBM Network Printer 12

If a Network Printer 12 is received with what appears to be additional memory, it needs to be removed. Please proceed with the following steps to remove additional memory.

• Remove the side panel of the printer to gain access to the memory banks.
• There are two socket groups: one containing two sockets. The other contains four sockets. The Flash memory Simm will be installed in one of the sockets in the socket group of four. (see diagram below)
• Remove the Flash Simm

• Jumper Settings

   

   

• Find a jumper on the 2.19F ROM chip
• Remove the shorting block from the jumper on the 2.19F ROM chip and place it on the pins labled JMP1 on the main board just under the sockets in the group of two. If the jumper is not present on the main board, you may have an older version of the NP12 and will need to purchase a 2.31F Firmware SIMM (IBM PN 01-A7310) to upgrade the printer to CTL 2.31F.
